Andrew Mitchell MP and Councillors visit local community pharmacy in Wylde Green

Andrew Mitchell MP has visited the Wylde Green Pharmacy together with local Councillors Ken Wood & Alex Yip to highlight the care being offered by this pharmacy to his constituents in Royal Sutton Coldfield.

There are 20 other community pharmacies located in Sutton Coldfield all of which provide NHS services.

Mr Patel who owns the pharmacy and his pharmacist, Mr Foley, have provided medicines and over the counter services for thousands of local residents along with medical usage reviews which have been introduced to improve patients compliance with medicines as well as avoiding waste.

Andrew Mitchell said, "The Wylde Green pharmacy is delivering up to 40 medicines a day to patients’ home addresses which is nearly 800 deliveries a month. This service is not funded by the Department of Health."

As part of the Department of Health’s review of its strategic plans this aspect of community pharmacy work is under examination and I am very keen to ensure that this service continues for my constituents.

I have written to the Minister responsible for these aspects of healthcare to ensure that the work of community pharmacies like these in my constituency are fully understood.”
