Andrew Mitchell MP at Good Hope Hospital to discuss services and a cost free home for Sutton’s Registry Office

Andrew Mitchell MP met the new Managing Director of Good Hope Hospital, Richard Parker, on Friday to discuss a potential cost-saving agreement to relocate the recently closed Registry Office to Good Hope and the prospect for other service changes.

Sutton’s MP welcomed Mr Parker to Sutton Coldfield and explained the importance of keeping Suttonians informed of any development at the hospital. Mr Parker, who previously managed and implemented the emergency care recovery programme at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, agreed with Andrew Mitchell and assured him that he had already moved to act on feedback from the public and the Quality Care Commission in improving waiting times at A & E.

On the issue of using Good Hope as an alternative location for the recently closed Registry Office Mr Parker agreed with Andrew Mitchell’s proposition that Good Hope would be an appropriate location and said that he would take action to see if the Hospital could help in securing the Registry Office relocation to the hospital free of charge and at no cost to the Council.

Discussing the prospects for any potential changes at the Hospital Andrew Mitchell received assurances that an appropriate consultation would be undertaken”.

Andrew Mitchell said “We greatly appreciate the commitment to help secure the Registry Office at Good Hope at no cost for the space involved”.

“I have made absolutely clear that were any proposals made for changes they will go through a proper consultation process and a public meeting in Sutton Coldfield will take place in order to ensure that the public are fully involved in any decisions taken.”
