Sutton Coldfield’s MP, Andrew Mitchell, has launched a campaign together with Sutton’s Conservative Councillors against the proposal from Labour-controlled Birmingham City Council to build 10,000 homes on Green Belt land in Sutton Coldfield.

Andrew Mitchell is holding a Public Meeting at the Trinity Centre in Sutton Coldfield on Saturday 8 December, at 3pm. The meeting will focus on the detail of the proposals and how local residents can make their voice heard.

Andrew Mitchell MP, said “Your local Conservative Councillors and I are campaigning hard to ensure that we resist any proposals which threaten Sutton’s Green Belt and the character of our Town. I urge concerned residents to watch out for the petition and online poll that Conservative Councillors will be using as part of their campaign plan.”

“I am meeting with Planning Officers from the City Council today to discuss the potential threat to Sutton’s Green Belt and raise the concerns of the many constituents who have written to me expressing horror at the City Council’s proposals.”

Andrew Mitchell is encouraging his constituents to express their concerns about the Draft Birmingham Development Plan during the consultation period which ends on 14th January 2013. To register your comments online go to http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/plan2031
