Andrew Mitchell MP hosts successful business breakfast for local businesses at Royal Sutton Town Hall

Business started early on Friday with 25 local Sutton Coldfield and West Midlands businesses attending a breakfast at the Town Hall. The event was put on by Andrew Mitchell MP to help local companies find out more about how they can expand or start exporting operations.

The event, put on in partnership with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the Government Department working with businesses based in the United Kingdom to ensure their success in international markets, covered the many programs on offer to Sutton businesses which can enable them to break into new markets abroad and market themselves as world class.

The event was opened by Andrew Mitchell, welcoming attendees, highlighting the Government’s focus on increasing UK exports, and introducing the line-up of speakers which included Paul Noon OBE, Director of UKTI in the West Midlands, Pete Longman, Founder & CEO of Sutton Coldfield based business CM2000, Mark Runiewicz, CEO of Trade & Export Finance and Jane Cooper, Export Finance Adviser with UK Export Finance. The attendees ranged from small start-ups to medium size exporters.

Pete Longman spoke of CM2000’S successful expansion into North America and the support received from UKTI. Mark Runiewicz outlined the export market environment and how businesses successfully look for finance. Paul Noon OBE and Jane Cooper gave examples of how British businesses have benefited from the assistance of UKTI and UK Export Finance and how Sutton’s businesses can make the most of the Government support programmes on offer.

Speaking after the event Andrew Mitchell commented, “I am very happy to see so many Sutton businesses in attendance and the range of businesses speaks to the strength of the business community in our Royal Town. UKTI offer strong support to UK businesses expanding their operations abroad and in view of the success of this occasion and the potential to help other businesses in Sutton, I hope we can do another larger event with them in the future”.
