Andrew Mitchell MP has attended Sutton Coldfield’s Annual Civic Service held at Holy Trinity Parish Church where he, the town’s Councillors, local dignitaries and a large congregation celebrated the life of Sutton Coldfield. The service was held last Sunday, 22 May 2011.

The Service was also attended by representatives of a large number of Sutton Coldfield’s voluntary, charitable and non-governmental organisations.

The Service was taken by Revd John Routh, Priest-in-charge of Holy Trinity, who opened with brief words of welcome.

Also attending was Paul Sabapathy, Lord-Lieutenant for the West Midlands and Sutton Coldfield’s Chief Superintendent, James Andronov who gave the first reading. Andrew Mitchell, Member of Parliament for Sutton Coldfield gave the second reading and Councillor Margaret Waddington of Sutton Trinity Ward led the Prayers of Intercession.

Now in its sixth year, the Civic Service was reinstated by Andrew Mitchell MP and former Sutton Councillor Hon Alderman David Roy OBE in 2005 after an absence of more than thirty years.

Andrew Mitchell said, “We have much to be proud of in Sutton Coldfield so the Civic Service is a great opportunity for us to join together to celebrate our town, our civic society and all those who contribute to it.”
