Andrew Mitchell MP visits Sutton Coldfield Jobcentre to discuss the Government’s Welfare Reforms

Andrew Mitchell MP has visited the Jobcentre in Sutton Coldfield to meet the new District Manager, Jane Beaver in the month where the Coalition Government has made changes to the tax and benefits system to help hardworking people.

Mr Mitchell discussed with Jane Beaver the measures that the Sutton Jobcentre has put in place to ensure that staff can provide the best advice to his constituents as the Government’s welfare reforms are implemented. These include capping benefits so that no household can claim more than the average working family earns and making work pay through the Universal Credit.

In recent months changes have been introduced at the Jobcentre to personalise the assistance given to those seeking work. The Jobcentre now has a number of advisory teams dedicated to giving specialist advice to cater for each individual from Sutton Coldfield who visits the Jobcentre.

Following the meeting Andrew Mitchell MP said, “I am in regular contact with staff at Sutton’s Jobcentre and it is a key part of my work as Sutton Coldfield’s MP to ensure that the service provided is appropriate for my constituents and that each individual is dealt with as quickly and as effectively as possible.

“I was particularly pleased to see that the Jobcentre now provides a much more personal service. In addition, I have put Sutton’s Jobcentre Manager in touch with the Sutton Coldfield Town Centre Business Improvement District as a further tool to get those who are unemployed back into work.”
