Andrew Mitchell MP visits West Midlands Fire Service Headquarters and meets with Chief Fire Officer


Andrew Mitchell MP visits West Midlands Fire Service Headquarters in Birmingham and met with the Chief Fire Officer, Vij Randeniya.

During the meeting, Mr Mitchell discussed issues ranging from the Fire Control project to the work of the UK’s International Search and Rescue Team, which is funded by the Department for International Development. Sutton’s MP also sought assurances from the Chief Fire Officer that Sutton’s local fire service would continue to ensure the safety and security of his constituents.

Andrew Mitchell was shown the regional headquarters’ state-of-the-art fire control system. He was also given a tour of the Safeside Centre, a purpose-built interactive educational learning centre for safety available to the whole of the West Midlands community.

Speaking with the Chief Fire Officer, Mr Mitchell said, “The fire service is a vital part of our local public safety infrastructure. I support the excellent work done by the West Midlands Fire Service and thank you and your staff for your commitment to ensuring the safety of Sutton residents.”
