Andrew Mitchell MP welcomes New Oscott Primary School to the Houses of Parliament

Andrew Mitchell MP has welcomed New Oscott Primary School to the Houses of Parliament and spoke to Year Six pupils about what goes on at Westminster before taking part in a quick-fire question and answer session.

Andrew Mitchell enjoyed an energetic discussion with the class about the work he does as a Member of Parliament before he was quizzed by the children about a number of important topics, including who Andrew’s boss was.

To which Andrew replied:
“Well, it’s you!”

The Q&A session then moved on to the role that Mr Mitchell plays as Sutton’s MP which included questions about how laws are passed and how many constituents are represented by each MP.

Andrew Mitchell MP said:
“This is an excellent school. I was impressed with the range of questions the pupils had come up with – it is encouraging to see such an interest in politics from a young age”.
