Andrew Mitchell supports local infrastructure improvement

Sutton Coldfield’s MP has welcomed the announcement that work will shortly begin to improve the capacity of the M42 Junction 9, Southbound Entry Slip. This is part of the Government’s nationwide programme to improve road safety, reduce congestion and promote growth through infrastructure investment.

Andrew Mitchell MP commented: “The Government’s Infrastructure Improvement Programme will unlock a critical pinch point on the M42 and by doing so will help boost growth in Sutton Coldfield. It will also improve access for my constituents to the Local Enterprise Zone and Business Parks by ensuring they can travel more easily around the West Midlands.”

“This Government is committed to investing in our local infrastructure which is vital to boosting the local economy and freeing up our local road network will benefit local businesses and households.”

Work is scheduled to start on Monday 11 November, with a view to being completed by January 2014. The Highways Agency has worked hard to ensure that local residents and road users will face minimal disruption from the works and any work requiring closure of the slip road will be carried out overnight.
