Councillor Malcolm Cornish & our MP Andrew Mitchell celebrate progress in Boldmere

Andrew Mitchell MP and Malcolm Cornish spent last Saturday morning on a visit to Boldmere as the local Vesey Councillor announced a further investment of £80,000 for the area.

Malcolm Cornish and Sutton’s MP talked to shoppers and shopkeepers as they commended the significant progress that has been made in transforming the neighbourhood in Boldmere over the past three years. This further investment will allow for the completion of the network of pavements owned by the Council up to Antrobus Road. Ongoing maintenance continues to take place and new dustbins have recently been installed.

The pair popped in on recently opened new businesses as well as long established outlets.

Andrew Mitchell MP said, ‘‘The variety of new shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants justifies the significant investment that has recently been ploughed into Boldmere. Malcolm Cornish and his fellow Councillors have worked tirelessly to improve this area for local residents and I want to pay tribute today to the hard work both Malcolm Cornish and his colleagues have put in.

“The local high street should be at the very heart of every community, bringing people together, providing essential services and creating jobs and investment – and Boldmere is doing just that. The local business community deserves great credit for working with residents and their local Councillors to ensure that Boldmere is a success.”
