Health care support for Birmingham to rise this year

Andrew Mitchell MP has today announced that the allocation for health care for Sutton Coldfield will rise.

Andrew Mitchell MP said, “Despite difficult financial circumstances, the PCT revenue allocations in 2012-13 will grow, representing a real-terms increase and a continued positive investment in front-line NHS services.”

Birmingham East and North PCT will receive total revenue allocations of £768 million for 2012-13. This is an increase of £20.9 million. The includes £734.6 million for recurrent allocations and £33.6 million for the non-recurrent allocations for primary dental care, pharmaceutical services, general ophthalmic services and support for joint working between health and social care.

This will be the last round of allocations made directly to PCTs. Subject to the passage of the Health and Social Care Bill, for 2013-12 onwards the NHS Commissioning Board will be responsible for the allocation of resources to clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) while the Department of Health will make ring-fenced grants to Local Authorities for their public health responsibilities.
