Local MP joins Sutton Coldfield Royal British Legion to pay tribute to town’s Service Men and Women on Remembrance Sunday

On Sunday Sutton’s Royal British Legion, Sea, Army and Air Cadets, local residents and the town’s Member of Parliament Andrew Mitchell paid tribute to Service men and women from Sutton Coldfield and across the UK at the town’s official Remembrance Day ceremony.

The Royal British Legion parade travelled from King Edward Square to Holy Trinity Parish Church where it joined hundreds of local residents for the Remembrance Service. The Last Post followed by the Two Minute Silence and Reveille took place in the Church. The Parade then returned to King Edward Square for the Laying of Wreaths at the War Memorial.

Following the laying of the wreaths, Andrew Mitchell and his wife Sharon joined ex-service men and women of the Royal British Legion at the British Legion club in Sutton Coldfield.

Andrew Mitchell MP said, “I am always extremely proud to join Sutton’s Royal British Legion, our Sea, Army and Air Cadets as well as many others to pay tribute to our Service men and women – both past and present – on Remembrance Sunday. It serves as a reminder of the enormous debt we owe members of the armed forces and this year we also mark the 90th anniversary of the Royal British Legion. I was honoured to lay a wreath at the War Memorial on behalf of our town.”
