Maney Hill students propose solution to combat town’s pollution

‘Eco Sutton’ teamed up with Maney Hill Primary school pupils; Sutton’s MP Andrew Mitchell and Councillor Alex Yip to set up an air monitoring device and spread awareness of the danger pollution poses.

The Eco-team set about this important task to update and share data with Birmingham City Council to help plan a long term preventative strategy to help combat air pollution.

With protection of the environment often being thought of as a macro issue the students helped show that there are many steps we can take at a local effort to challenge even the largest of problems.

This is only the beginning of Eco-Sutton’s mission to improve Sutton’s environment having already secured support from 3 other schools to set up air monitoring devices in their vicinity.

Andrew Mitchell commented that “Helping to challenge environmental issues has become increasingly more important as we look to achieve a more sustainable future. It is this vision of a sustainable future which makes the work of these young pupils so important – with the work we do now benefitting them in the future.”
