Sutton’s MP discusses Brassington Avenue and Town Centre with BID Chairman John Cutler
Andrew Mitchell has met with the Chair of the Sutton Coldfield Business Improvement District (BID), John Cutler, along with local Councillor Ewan Mackey to discuss the progress that has been made towards improving the Town Centre, and to work together to create a cohesive strategy towards moving forward on the redevelopment of the Brassington Avenue site.
Mr Cutler, a born and bred Suttonian, updated the Town’s MP on what had been achieved by the BID towards improving the business environment in Sutton Coldfield, and the work they have been doing towards improving the retail and leisure experience in Sutton Coldfield.
Andrew thanked Mr Cutler for the work he and his team had been doing, and praised the BID for the notable improvements in the areas that they had been focusing on. They discussed the need for further investment in Sutton’s Town Centre, and the BID flagged up local issues that they felt Andrew might be able to help resolve. They discussed the successes that the newly-formed Town Council had achieved in the last year, and the work that could be done to make sure that the different entities interested in improving the Sutton environment collaborated and complimented each other’s projects.
Since its creation almost six years ago the BID has implemented a series of initiatives to boost the business experience in Royal Sutton Coldfield, including the Rewards in Sutton Coldfield card which encourage loyalty to local town centre businesses. They also sponsored Sutton Owlfield – a mass-participation public art trail which captured the imagination of people far and wide, and was a great way of connecting local businesses with the community they serve.
