Sutton Coldfield Conservatives raise £1,300 for Help for Heroes

Sutton Coldfield Conservative Club member Alan Tudor and local MP Andrew Mitchell met with Dawn-Marie Turner, Regional Coordinator for Help for Heroes, to present the charity with a cheque for £1,300.

Alan raised over £1,000 for the Conservative Club Chairman's Charity, Help for Heroes. Alan, an ex-serviceman, raised the sum from Conservative Club members who sponsored him to complete the Great Midlands Fun Run which took place in June 2010. The Conservative Club’s 2010 Christmas Draw raised the last £300.

Dawn-Marie assured Alan that every penny raised will go to help injured servicemen, adding that in the last 3 years the charity had raised some £86m.

Andrew Mitchell MP said, “I am proud to be a member of a Club that has raised such a substantial sum of money for Help for Heroes. They do fantastic work with our returning troops and it’s great to see such strong support for fundraising events like this.”

The Sutton Coldfield Conservative Club will be holding further fund raising events over the coming year, for more information email info@suttoncoldfieldconservativeclub.com

Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Britain’s current conflicts.
