War Memorial to seventy eight Sutton Coldfield dead unveiled in Emmanuel Parish Church, Wylde Green


A memorial to forty eight residents of Wylde Green who died in the Great War and thirty Wylde Green residents who died in World War 2 has been consecrated by the British Chaplain-General to her Majesty’s Land Forces and wreathes laid by the Vice Lord Lieutenant, Colonel George Mash TD, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham Councillor Raymond Hassall and the Right Honourable Andrew Mitchell, Member of Parliament Royal Sutton Coldfield. The service of consecration took place on Sunday 17 January at Emmanuel Parish Church in Wylde Green with the Reverend Father Richard Sheppard.

Andrew Mitchell said, “This is a fitting tribute to the men and women in Wylde Green who died serving their country in 2 World Wars. It shows that the local community do not forget those who served and died in our interest.”
