Andrew Mitchell visits Mere Green Primary school and spoke to Year 5 during their assembly as well as having a useful catchup with Mr Boyd the Deputy Head.

Across our Royal Town there will be sadness and reflection at the news today of the death of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Prince Philip was the longest serving consort in British history and he will be remembered for a lifetime of public service. Our thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal family.  

Parliament will be recalled on Monday, with the House of Commons sitting for tributes.

Yesterday I was joined in Sutton Coldfield by our West Midlands Mayor Andy Street. He and Frank Eperjesi who is standing for the Sutton Vesey Ward in the Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council by election next month had a most useful discussion about employment in Vesey and in particular about the Boldmere High Street.

Yesterday I visited Arthur Terry school to discuss Covid 19 testing in educational settings and the measures that have been put in place to protect pupils and staff. I have uploaded a short video on my YouTube channel. Thank you to Mr Gannon and the team for having me along.

Today I received my first Covid 19 jab at our Town Hall vaccine hub. It was great to be welcomed into the Town Hall by Richard Parkin, a community activist from Reddicap who is also volunteering at the Town Hall. It all went very smoothly and it is clear that a great deal of organisation has taken place behind the scenes to ensure that everything is easy and straightforward for those attending to receive their vaccine. I can confirm that it was all very quick and painless and I haven’t experienced any side effects.
