Andrew Mitchell has performed the re-opening ceremony at the Royal Town’s Glover Almshouses on Saturday 7th September.
Andrew Mitchell said:
“The refurbishment of 31 existing homes and the building of 2 new dwelling places at a cost of £3 million has been accomplished with beautiful results for all those who live at Glover’s.
I would like to thank and congratulate Pam Johnson MBE its Chairman, and all its Trustees on this magnificent achievement; since it was described in 1934 as a “haven of peace” it has provided a wonderful home first for women- and more recently for men and women- for nearly 200 years.”
The re-opening ceremony was followed by a sumptuous tea attended by residents, trustees, the Member of Parliament and Leader of Royal Sutton Town Council.
