Andrew Mitchell, our Member of Parliament and Councillor Simon Ward, the leader of the Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council have visited Boldmere St. Michaels Football Ground to meet the Chairman, Robert Mallaband, and members of his management committee. Both visitors praised the team in organising and running Boldmere St. Michaels and for the tremendous contribution it makes to the local community for promoting sport and football among young Royal Sutton girls and boys.
A further purpose of the visit was to see at first hand the proposals for the new lighting which have been submitted for a grant to the Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council. The application is being considered shortly. Andrew and Simon met with committee members and then toured the grounds and heard about further plans to enhance the work carried out by the club.
Following the tour, Andrew Mitchell said:
“I want to thank Robert Mallaband and of all his committee colleagues for the superb work carried out at this football ground and their immense benefit it gives to the local community.
“I am also extremely impressed by the fundraising and superb work which has gone into enhancing the club in recent years. I pay a particular tribute to the Sutton Coldfield charitable trust for their help with this.”
Simon Ward said:
“Boldmere St Michaels epitomise so much of what is great about our Royal Town. Their outstanding commitment to the local community is reflected in the accessible opportunities they provide to all ages. I am hugely impressed with the developments at the club - that they are now home to Aston Villa Ladies only demonstrates further the quality of their facilities.”
