Royal Town MP visits top 2% school in Sutton

27th January 2016

Andrew Mitchell, the Royal Town MP together with Councillor Margaret Waddington was welcomed to Maney Hill Primary School in Wylde Green by head teacher Mrs Sarah Whitehead.

During a tour of the grounds, Mr Mitchell and Mrs Whitehead discussed the School’s approved plans for expansion in September 2016. The School has been one of the most oversubscribed, receiving 170 applications for 30 places.

Mr Mitchell said, “it’s not difficult to see why Maney Hill Primary School is the third most popular in school in Birmingham. The teachers and assistants at the School have worked astoundingly hard to achieve their position as the top 2% School in the country in teaching phonics and I was pleased to be able to congratulate them all on their hard work.”

Mr Mitchell got a taste of the Schools’ league board topping teaching at Maney Hill by sitting in on an enthusiastic lesson led by Ms Phillips and later took questions from the School Student Council.
