Sutton’s MP discusses Royal title with council chief executive

2nd October 2015

Andrew Mitchell has met Mark Rogers, Chief Executive of Birmingham City Council, to discuss how Royal Sutton Coldfield’s title can best be used for both the benefit of the Royal Town and of Britain’s second city.

They discussed a range of options to promote the reasserted status of Royal Sutton Coldfield, with Mr Mitchell making clear that while he saw the Royal Town as an entirely separate entity to Birmingham, with its unique identity and history having been recognised and cemented through the reassertion of its historic title, he felt that it was important to work with the wider community to pass on the benefits of the Royal status to the surrounding area.

Following the meeting Mr Mitchell said “we had a useful meeting and will continue to work together to maximise the benefit of Sutton’s Royal Status. We are a unique community in the West Midlands, and it is important that this is recognised, celebrated and promoted”.
