Andrew Mitchell MP recently met with a team of volunteers from Jaguar Land Rover to see how they’ve transformed Holy Cross Pre-School’s playground into a go-kart racetrack. Having officially opened the school 5 years ago, Andrew returned to formally open the racetrack.

With funding by Jaguar Land Rover Solihull, a team of 18 volunteers spent two days over the school summer holidays clearing the overgrown area and constructing the racetrack in time for the return of the children for the new term. They also worked on renovation; repainting classrooms and the exterior woodwork.

James Hammond from Plant Launch said of the school “They provide a kids club for children before and after school hours, as well as preparing them for the big step going into infant school, which can be daunting for most children. Funding is limited, so I saw an opportunity to enhance the setting for the kids and wanted to give something back.”

Jaguar Land Rover Solihull have pledged to deliver 6000 volunteering hours for 2017 to help worthwhile causes in our community.

Andrew said “I’m truly impressed by the new race track, which is fully kitted out with vehicles, uniforms, flags and even a makeshift fuel-pump. It is a wonderful facility for the children and I thank Jaguar Land Rover for their generosity”.
