Andrew Mitchell backs bringing British citizens who supported ISIS back for trial in UK

In a brief intervention in the debate on the Nationality and Borders Bill and the withdrawal of British citizenship, Andrew Mitchell supports the view that the UK should shoulder its responsibilities in regard to UK citizens currently held in camps in conflict zones in the middle east and, like all the other UN Security Council permanent members, should bring them back the UK for trial.

Mr Andrew Mitchell (Sutton Coldfield) (Con)

My right hon. Friend is making an incredibly strong point. Does he think it is quite inappropriate for one of the leading nations at the United Nations, with the privilege of a veto, not to accept its international responsibilities, when all other members of the permanent five do?

Mr Davis

I do think that, but I was focusing on the security element, and I do not think that the security argument stands up.
