Andrew Mitchell MP has met with Ruth Cooke, the new Chief Executive of the housing and regeneration group, Midland Heart. She explained how they are trying to transform lives and communities within Sutton Coldfield. Midland Heart provides affordable rented housing which Andrew Mitchell is keen to see promoted in light of the shortage of social housing available locally. Alongside this, the Housing Association offers care and support services to encourage independent living. Andrew Mitchell MP said, “There is no doubt that in Sutton Coldfield and across the UK we are facing a housing shortage and I know from many letters from constituents that it is very much a problem in Sutton Coldfield too.” “Midland Heart is working hard to provide affordable rental properties for local people and in particular support services to assist independent living - so that remaining in your own home is an option for longer for those in need of help. “I have arranged to visit one of their developments in Sutton soon to see firsthand the service provided”.
