Andrew Mitchell MP has met with Lorraine Bottomley the recently appointed Head of Police for Sutton Coldfield to discuss the impact of the Government’s Police reform locally and to receive an update about policing in Sutton Coldfield. Andrew Mitchell hailed the reduction in crime in Sutton Coldfield reflected in the Crime Reduction Comparison showing that Total Recorded Crime is down by 27% across Sutton’s Wards. Andrew Mitchell MP said, “I am extremely grateful to local Police Officers for the outstanding job they do in keeping Sutton’s streets safe. The reduction of more than one quarter in recorded crime in Sutton Coldfield is a significant success for Police and wider community efforts to combat crime.” “I am committed to supporting Sutton’s Police to ensure they can continue to deliver a high standard of policing and remain visible to local residents.” Mr Mitchell also announced he would hold a public meeting at the end of this summer to inform and update local residents across Sutton Coldfield on the plans for the Police and Crime Commissioner elections taking place in November.
