Andrew Mitchell MP opened New Oscott Primary School’s Summer Fair organised by the Parent Teacher Association to raise funds for the school. Hundreds of visitors enjoyed the many stalls and attractions which included vintage vehicles, a car boot sale and raffles and tombolas. Mr Mitchell and local Vesey Councillors Alan Rudge and Lyn Collin, who is a School Governor, were shown around the fair by the School’s Head Teacher Alison Walklett. Mr Mitchell regularly visits Sutton’s Schools and has been taking the chance to ask Head Teachers and staff how the Coalition Government’s education reforms are working in their School. Andrew Mitchell MP said, “I enjoyed my visit to New Oscott’s Summer Fun Day and returned home with a pot plant, a bottle of wine and two trowels. Once again the local community came out to support of the School’s fundraising efforts and I look forward to returning to see the learning bays and the new stage which the money will go towards.” Head Teacher, Alison Walklett said, “This is always a popular event with all our families and I want to thank staff and parents who give up their time to organise and run stalls.” “There was a lovely atmosphere and we welcomed along new families whose children will be joining us in September. We are extremely grateful to the Parent Teacher Association for organising this highly successful event and to Andrew Mitchell for opening and taking the time to have a look around our Summer Fair.” Photo: (left-right) Annette Howell, Andrew Mitchell MP, Head Teacher Alison Walklett and Councillors Lyn Collin and Alan Rudge.
