Andrew Mitchell MP has visited Good Hope Hospital to meet with Dr Mark Newbold, Chief Executive of the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust and Susan Moore, Managing Director of Good Hope Hospital to discuss a range of healthcare issues in Sutton Coldfield. Mr Mitchell organised the meeting as part of his regular engagement with Sutton’s healthcare providers. The visit is Andrew’s third to the hospital in just two months. At the end of last year he officially opened Good Hope’s new Bereavement Care Suite with Lord Hunt, Chairman of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust. The new suite will provide an invaluable role to support bereaved relatives and friends in privacy. As part of his annual Christmas tour of the town’s emergency services, Sutton’s MP visited the hospital where he met and thanked doctors, nurses and hospital staff for their hard work throughout the year and during the festive season. Andrew’s third visit to the hospital was an opportunity for him to meet with Good Hope’s newly appointed Managing Director, Susan Moore and to discuss issues constituents have raised in recent months. Of particular concern to constituents living in neighbouring roads to the hospital was staff parking off-site. Mr Mitchell discussed the hospital’s plans to add an extra 250 parking spaces by building a ‘demountable parking deck’ over the top of an existing car park. Sutton’s MP also discussed the hospital’s new complaints system, refurbishment of the AandE and neo-natal departments and the hospital’s current capital investment. Andrew Mitchell MP said, “I watch all developments at Good Hope Hospital with great care to ensure my constituents receive the best possible support when they need it. “I raised the issue of parking at the hospital on this occasion, as I have on many others. There is now a chance that further progress can be made on this matter. I will, of course, continue to ensure that this issue is monitored closely by management at both Heart of England and Good Hope. “I was also pleased to hear of a range of improvements made over the last year.” Photo: Andrew Mitchell MP with Dr Mark Newbold, Chief Executive of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust and Susan Moore, Managing Director outside Good Hope Hospital.
