Andrew Mitchell MP meets developers to discuss new Central Place scheme

Andrew Mitchell MP met Chris Deane, Steve Cole and Jonathan Cox, the directors of Bordeaux Estates who have recently submitted plans to regenerate the former Rosie’s Night Club with a vision for a mixed economy development including shops and apartments.

The developers who have owned the site since July 2020, have submitted guiding applications to Birmingham City Council which include a range of one and two bedroom apartments, parking spaces with electric charging points, shops and leisure facilities.

Demolition of the nightclub began before the pandemic hit last year with a demolition company undertaking initial work last February.

The “Central Place” proposals have designed by Edgbaston-base SR Davis Architects and an outline planning application has been lodged with Birmingham City Council. If planning permission is granted work would begin straight away with the project completed in 2023.

Commenting, Mr Mitchell said

“I welcome this investment in the Royal Town, and it is good to see the Town’s attraction to developers looking to regenerate our town centre, but we must ensure that the development fits with the Masterplan that has been drawn up by the Regeneration Partnership. As with any Town Centre development the first significant new development sets the tone of the overall regeneration, so it is important that we get this right and that the housing that is provided is of a high standard.”
