Andrew Mitchell visited Acorns Children’s Hospice for a tour of the specialist facility and to hear about the vital service it provides for some of his young constituents. The Walsall based hospice is the only organisation that provides this type of care locally for life limited and life threatened children and young people. Children can stay at the hospice for short breaks, emergency and end-of-life care and it has a community team who are on hand to provide much needed support to families 24 hours a day. Andrew Mitchell MP said, “It was encouraging to meet Acorns’ Chief Executive David Strudley and Head Nurse Hilary Ball to learn more about how Acorns provides the best possible care to young people often in very difficult circumstances. “I wanted to show my support and thank the wonderful staff, volunteers and fundraisers who make sure that the high costs of running the Hospice are met. The vital service the Hospice provides is hugely valued by the community in Sutton Coldfield”. Acorns’ Chief Executive David Strudley explained to Mr Mitchell how Acorns urgently needs donations.
