Andrew Mitchell MP praises teachers on Thank a Teacher Day

Andrew Mitchell MP has thanked school teachers and support staff across the Royal Town on Thank a Teacher Day which took place on Wednesday 23rd June.

Andrew visited Arthur Terry to meet pupils and thank staff for all that they have done to support their pupils during the pandemic. Andrew met a group of students along with the school’s Head Teacher Samantha Kibble.

During his visit, Andrew spoke fondly about his favourite teacher from his time in school, Mr Warwick Heale who motivated him to go to university - the first member of his family to do so. Speaking to pupils, Andrew stated that “teaching is an admirable profession that requires both dedication and passion” he also recalled his time volunteering in Rwanda teaching a number of English Teachers. “I cannot speak more highly of our fantastic teachers in the Royal Town, because after two weeks of volunteering as a teacher in Rwanda I was absolutely exhausted!”.

Commenting, on Thank a Teacher Day Andrew Mitchell MP said: “I would like to send a sincere thank you to all our brilliant teachers in the Royal Town for all their hard work and dedication to their students. We are lucky in the Royal Town to have so many excellent local schools and so many teachers that go above and beyond to support their pupils, particularly during Covid 19.”
