Andrew Mitchell MP was welcomed to a meeting with a group of local business angels at Moor Hall Hotel last Friday to speak about the policies the Government has put in place to encourage more people to invest in new business start-ups. Advantage Business Angels, Chaired by Sir Bernard Zissman, works in partnership with the Moor Hall Investment Club to invest in innovative ideas from local people which benefit the economy in the West Midlands. Sutton Coldfield’s MP spoke to investors about the support offered by the Government which includes tax breaks to boost investment in new businesses as well as the £50 million Business Angel Co-Investment Fund which provides start-up finance and advice for 18-30 year olds. Following his speech, Andrew Mitchell said, “It is essential that we unlock creativity and entrepreneurial talent in the UK to drive forward strong, sustainable growth. “Small businesses are the life blood of our economy, both nationally and in our own region, which is why it was so positive to visit this group of local businessmen who are dedicated to helping new enterprises.” Chairman of Advantage Business Angels, Sir Bernard Zissman said, “Mr Mitchell is especially welcome at this time as the economy starts to emerge from a dark period, it is the creative entrepreneurial businesses which will lead the revival.
