Andrew Mitchell MP has supported a local fundraiser in aid of Help for Heroes Coldstream Guards Afghanistan Appeal organised by Mrs Jane Fraser-Cross, aged 75, from Sutton Coldfield. The event was held at Sutton Coldfield Conservative Club and attended by many ex-servicemen including Mr Ronald Groves and Mr Brian Owens, both of whom served in the Coldstream Guards. The fundraising evening was one of many events organised by Mrs Fraser-Cross over the past year, including a fashion show. Mrs Fraser-Cross, now a great-grandmother said, “My son’s nanny became a Coldstream Guard aged 17 and he was badly injured in Afghanistan. The evening went really well and we raised so much for a good cause.” Andrew Mitchell MP said, “This was a great event for a well worthy cause and I was pleased to be able to pop in to lend my full support. Mrs Fraser-Cross’ successful and extensive fundraising will, I am sure, have helped Help for Heroes to achieve their recent milestone of £100M in donations.\" Mrs Fraser-Cross hit the headlines after the Prime Minister wrapped baby Florence in a shawl on the steps of Downing Street, knitted by her.
