Andrew Mitchell MP has visited Norman Laud’s Head Office and Children’s Short Stay Home and Nursery on Birmingham Road, Sutton Coldfield, to help celebrate their 50th anniversary with a garden party and balloon release. Mr Mitchell made a short speech to a packed room full of service users and staff. He then toured the rooms and facilities with Chief Executive Elaine Mountford. Andrew Mitchell MP said, “As President of the Norman Laud Association I am extremely proud that the charity has reached this milestone anniversary. The Norman Laud plays an important role in our local community and I know it is a real lifeline of support to all those who use it.” Sutton’s MP also took the opportunity voice his support for the charity’s Cinder Path Run that takes place on Sunday 6 November at 11am. The 10km cross country run through Sutton Park was resurrected in 2008 after an absence of many years and has proved a successful fundraising tool as well as a great day out. Andrew urged local residents to take park saying, “I hope as many people as possible take part in the Cinder Path Run to help raise money for this great cause.” The run will start and end at Sutton Park Visitors Centre by Town Gate.
