The work of Sutton Coldfield’s MP in protecting the quality of the built environment for the local community in Sutton has been supported by the Civic Society for many years. This includes working on re-instating the Town’s Royal Town status and protecting Sutton’s Green Belt. Andrew Mitchell MP, said “I have joined this Parliamentary Group so that we can share ideas and best practise more directly amongst other like-minded MPs. “I am most grateful for the support and hard work of Sutton’s Civic Society which provides expert advice on how we can make Sutton more attractive, enjoyable and distinctive. I know from my constituency postbag that this is of great importance to Suttonians.” Elizabeth Allison, Chair of the Sutton Coldfield Civic Society, said “I would like to thank Andrew for his longstanding support of Sutton\'s Civic Society. “In Sutton we support the APPG’s focus on empowering local communities to give local people greater opportunities to take control of what happens in their local area. We will continue to work closely with Andrew to protect Sutton’s Green Belt particularly in the run up to the second Public Consultation due to start in the New Year.” To become a member of the Sutton Coldfield Civic Society go to www.suttoncoldfieldcivicsociety.com/index.htm Photo: Andrew Mitchell with officers of the Sutton Coldfield Civic Society',
