Andrew Mitchell MP has visited a Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) event in the Mall in Sutton Coldfield to show support for the town’s culture and sport groups. Mr Mitchell stood duty on an information point temporarily erected in the Mall by the Culture and Sport Theme Group of the LSP. The idea was thought up in response to the temporary closure of Sutton’s library. The stand, which was on display from 09.30–17.00 for two consecutive days, provided passersby with information about local clubs and societies and their relevant activities. Information was available on a range of topics including nature, history, civic society, dance, music, archery, gardening, Sutton’s town hall, dog obedience, fine arts and social groups. Mr Mitchell visited during a busy Friday lunchtime period and spoke to passersby and those manning the information point, which included some of Sutton’s library staff. Andrew Mitchell MP said, “We have a huge variety of clubs and societies in Sutton that we need to shout about so the culture and sport information point was a great idea. Congratulations to Elizabeth Allison, the Group’s Chair, and her hardworking team.” Sutton Coldfield\'s Local Strategic Partnership brings together key agencies and representatives of the community, voluntary and business sectors. Their common aim is to work in partnership with local people and stakeholders to co-ordinate local strategic planning and to pursue greater economic, social and environmental wellbeing for the residents of the constituency.
