Andrew Mitchell MP has been to inspect the Public Exhibition of the proposals for the redevelopment of Mere Green by Cordatus Real Estate, together with local Councillor, Maureen Cornish. The meeting took place with Keith Fenwick, Director of Alliance Planning Consultants, who represents the developer and John Shakeshaft Director of K4 Architects. Mr Mitchell and Councillor Cornish discussed the rationale for the scheme and addressed the architectural design in some detail. Following the meeting Councillor Maureen Cornish said “It is essential that local residents have the opportunity to comment on this development”. Andrew Mitchell MP added “I was pleased that Councillor Cornish has invited the developers to present their plans to residents at the next Ward meeting to be held at Mere Green Community Centre on Thursday 12 July, at 8pm”. “I do think that the scheme has merits but it could be improved with the benefit of local consultation. Councillors Maureen Cornish, Anne Underwood and Meirion Jenkins, all of whom have worked hard to secure the future of this development in Mere Green, are fully committed to this consultation and achieving the right way forward for Mere Green and local residents”.
