Andrew Mitchell MP has urged local residents to have their say on constituency boundary changes by contributing to the Boundary Commission’s 12-week consultation which started on Tuesday 13 September and runs until 5 December 2011. Members of the public can contribute both written and oral evidence to the consultation. Anyone wishing to write should send their response to: Boundary Commission for England, 35 Great Smith Street, London SW1P 3BQ or email reviews@bcommengland.x.gsi.gov.uk. Oral evidence will be taken at four public hearings across the West Midlands region: Birmingham, Ludlow, Stafford and Warwick. Birmingham’s Public Hearing will be the main one for the West Midlands and takes place over two days, Thursday 3 – Friday 4 November at the Copthorne Hotel, Paradise Circus, Birmingham B3 3HJ. Andrew Mitchell MP said, “We in Sutton Coldfield have a very strong sense of identity. It is important that the Boundary Commission hears local views and arguments. I am returning home this weekend to get the views of my constituents.” All consultation representations will be published on the Commission’s website in spring 2012 for further comment. Any revisions will be published in autumn 2012 and may be subject to a further consultation before the Commission makes their final recommendations by 1 October 2013.
