Andrew Mitchell MP visited Bishop Vesey School to address students in and answer questions they had on current affairs and his work as Sutton’s MP. Andrew Mitchell met with Headteacher Dominic Robson and students interested in taking politics at University. He fielded questions on the importance of educating women in alleviating poverty and the upcoming Scottish Referendum. Sutton’s MP then addressed the Key Stage 3 Debating Society and the Sixth Form Council where he talked about his role representing Sutton Coldfield. He also congratulated the school for their recent success as the winning school in the Sutton Coldfield Inter-Schools Debating Competition. After his talk Mr Mitchell fielded questions from the student audience on topics ranging from Fracking to the Living Wage and his views on the European Union. Following the visit Andrew Mitchell commented ”It is always a pleasure to speak to students in my constituency and I am proud of the great enthusiasm and knowledge of current affairs demonstrated here at Bishop Vesey School.”
