Andrew Mitchell MP has visited Greenacres residential home on Vesey Road in Sutton Coldfield to meet with a group of disabled constituents. The 32 residents at Greenacres, which is run by Leonard Cheshire Disability, invited Andrew to discuss their views and concerns about Government plans to reform disability benefit. The meeting was one of several visits that the MP for Sutton Coldfield has paid to Greenacres in recent years. David McIlree, who has been living at Greenacres for 9 years, said: “It was a very productive day and everyone enjoyed getting involved and sharing their views. We were really looking forward to Mr. Mitchell’s visit and are pleased he took time out to come and listen to us.” Andrew Mitchell MP said: “This was an important meeting for me to hear the views of the residents at Greenacres. I understand their concerns and I can assure them that the Government is listening to disabled people and their connected charities – like Leonard Cheshire. “We are now reviewing the mobility needs of disabled people in care homes, and I visited Greenacres precisely to listen to my constituents’ concerns in this area. I have today written to Maria Miller, the Minister for Disabled People, on behalf of the residents at Greenacres to pass on the thoughts and views they have raised with me.
