Andrew Mitchell MP has visited the Roger Smoldon rugby ground in Walmley to support Touch rugby in action in Sutton Coldfield. The Rugby Football Union (RFU) recently unveiled the biggest ever campaign to get England playing Touch Rugby. The RFU is working with Sutton Coldfield RFC to create a lasting legacy for the sport in the build up to and beyond the Rugby World Cup being held in England in 2015. Following his visit Andrew Mitchell MP, said “I enjoyed my visit to the club where I watched a game of Touch Rugby and heard about the support the 02 Touch programme is providing to my constituents, both male and female, who want to play non-contact rugby. “The Club has huge enthusiasm and great promise for the future which builds on their prestigious past. They are looking to redevelop and I very much look forward to supporting them in the future.” The 02 Touch Rugby sessions are on a Friday night beginning at 19:00 for 90 minutes. The first introductory session is free and thereafter only £3 per session with discounts for members. For more information call 0121 351 5323.
