Andrew Mitchell MP has welcomed Sutton Coldfield’s rejection of the Alternative Vote (AV) following the nationwide referendum on Thursday 5 May. Sutton Coldfield saw the second highest turnout as well as the highest number of No votes from across all ten Birmingham constituencies. Andrew Mitchell MP said, “The AV result in Sutton and nationally was a stupendous vote for common sense. The strong turnout locally proves that voters resoundingly agree on the benefits of retaining first past the post for our democratic system.” Photo: Andrew Mitchell MP with local activists campaigning for No to AV in advance of Thursday’s referendum.
