Andrew Mitchell MP welcomes Walmley War Memorial improvements

This week the Walmley War Memorial is being prepared for its long-awaited improvement programme, after last week’s clean and protection work.

The upcoming work which has been organised by Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council includes groundworks, new lighting and the installation of new street furniture. The programme should be finished by early November ahead of Remembrance Day.

Commenting, Andrew Mitchell said:

“I am glad to see our Town Council’s war memorial improvement works are well underway this week in Walmley. I would like to thank the Town Councillors in Walmley and Minworth who have worked incredibly hard to ensure our War Memorial is well looked after and protected for future generations.”

Cllr John Cooper of Walmley and Minworth Ward added:

“After a long process of getting the war memorial into the Town Councils hands, I am delighted to see that improvement work has started, this is a fantastic project for the village and Walmley itself. I would like to thank the supportive residents for their cooperation whilst this work is going on.”
