Andrew Mitchell MP’s 6th weekly message to constituents and local residents across our Royal Town

My sixth weekly message is a shorter one as I am sending all households across the Royal Town an update over the coming days. I hope that you will find it helpful with useful contact details for support services both locally and nationally.

This week there have been a number of important developments. The Government has expanded access to coronavirus testing. Every day we are ramping up testing and our ultimate aim is that anyone who needs a test will be able to have one. To do this we are opening more drive-through centres and mobile testing sites, and we’re increasing home testing to 25,000 a day by the end of this week.

The economic impact continues to be challenging for many businesses and individuals. I have been taking up a number of specific points of local concern with the Treasury each day . Earlier this week the Chancellor announced a new “Bounce Back” Loans scheme, which will provide loans of up to £50,000 to bolster the existing package of support available to small businesses. The scheme has been designed to ensure that small firms who need vital cash injections to keep operating can get finance in a matter of days.

As the Prime Minister said yesterday, it appears that we are now past the peak of Coronavirus cases and we are on the downward slope. The Prime Minister will set out a comprehensive plan next week to explain how we can get our economy moving, our children back to school, back into childcare, how we can travel to work and how we can make life in the workplace safer.

In the meantime I’m sure we will all continue to follow the social distancing guidelines and stay at home to protect our key workers and vulnerable members of our community.

If you feel I can help with any issues, problems or worries, please do not hesitate to get in contact by emailing me on andrew.mitchell.mp@parliament.uk

I and my team are working hard and are here to help you if ever we can.
