Andrew Mitchell MP has officially opened DC ONE, a state of the art modular collocation data centre, on behalf of Workspace Technology Ltd, a local multi award winning data centre design and build specialist. DC ONE was built to meet the growing demands for high quality enterprise class data centre capacity in Birmingham and the surrounding area. Not only do Workspace Technology Ltd deliver unique data centre design and build solutions for multiple blue chip organisations, but they are now providing their own colocation facilities which are designed, built and managed by the company. Workspace Technology Ltd has been one of the fastest growing technology companies in the UK since it started trading in 2006. It designs systems to make them as energy efficient as possible, providing unique solutions that can reduce electricity consumption by up to 90%. Andrew Mitchell said “I have followed the progress of Workspace Technology since its inception, and am impressed with the progress that has been made. Workspace Technology is an important business for Sutton Coldfield. Not only does it support other businesses in Sutton, but it provides good opportunities for high quality jobs in the local community. We are proud to have the business in Sutton and I wish everyone involved success as they continue to develop.” Roy Griffiths, Workspace Technology’s Managing Director commented, “Our new Rack Hosing Data Centre has been created to provide the IT demands that are required for Birmingham to progress and compete with other large UK cities. Workspace Technology puts Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield firmly on the digital map. We are pleased to contribute to supporting Sutton’s economy through recruitment, with six new engineers this year alone, and through other forms of support for local businesses”.
