Andrew Mitchell MP visited Trinity Specialist College to meet staff and students and tour the College. The College, a Further Education day placement centre which provides a 48 week provision for 24 students with learning difficulties, disabilities and Autistic Spectrum Disorder, is now in its third year. Andrew Mitchell visited all four classes at the College, meeting students and hearing about the activities available to them in and out of the classroom as well as the work the College does in preparing students for entering the work place once they leave Trinity. He also visited the new Sensory Room at the College which provides students with an all round sensory experience, including LED lights, sound system and textured walls. Following the tour Andrew discussed funding for the college and its growth over the past three years with Peter Hannah-Smith, the Operations Manager and Phil Page, the Education Manager. Speaking after the visit Andrew Mitchell said “ It has been a pleasure to meet staff and students here at Trinity Specialist College. There is a fantastic atmosphere at Trinity and its success and growth since opening is testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff”. Sally Evans, Director of Trinity College commented “We are very grateful to Andrew for visiting us to see what we do and meet our wonderful young people. It means a lot to us that people with Disabilities are valued members of our community. We are extremely grateful for his support in helping us to promote the need for more provisions like Trinity across Birmingham”.
