The High Sheriff of the West Midlands Dame Christine Braddock DBE, Lord-Lieutenant for the West Midlands Paul Sabapathy, Sutton’s Councillors and a large congregation joined Andrew Mitchell, Sutton Coldfield’s Member of Parliament for the town’s Annual Civic Service held at Holy Trinity Parish Church last Sunday. The Service – now in its eighth year – was taken by Reverend John Routh, Rector of Holy Trinity who welcomed representatives from across Sutton’s voluntary sector, local dignitaries and members of the uniformed services to celebrate the life, society and people of Sutton Coldfield. The congregation heard readings from Maggie Shackleton, Head Teacher of Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls and Chair of Sutton’s Head Teachers and Andrew Mitchell. Councillor Margaret Waddington of Sutton Trinity Ward led the Prayers of Intercession.
