Andrew Mitchell advocates a compromise proposal that would see no further discussion of Green Belt development for ten years. Andrew Mitchell has produced a compromise plan to stop development on Sutton’s Green Belt for the next ten years at least. In his formal response to Birmingham City Council’s Consultation on behalf of his constituents Andrew Mitchell made the case for going ahead with the Development Plan without the 6,000 homes proposed for Area C of Sutton’s Green Belt and with a moratorium of 10 years on any building on the Green Belt. Further consultation in approximately 2023 would then be based on updated inward immigration figures and on updated figures for housing need throughout the wider area. Mr Mitchell’s wife, Sharon Mitchell, has also written in opposition to the proposals.
