Sutton Coldfield’s MP, Andrew Mitchell, and Councillors have met with Mike Bushell, Sutton Coldfield’s Town Centre Manager, to get an update on his progress so far. The meeting was attended by many of Sutton Coldfield’s Councillors, and specifically those working on the town centre regeneration. During his speech at the gathering Mr Mike Bushell spoke about the variety of existing businesses in the Town Centre, whilst emphasising the importance of attracting new ones to the area. The Town Centre Supremo detailed his plans to make the town more accessible for visitors, reaffirming his belief that everything will be done to ensure that Sutton Coldfield maintains and develops its position as a key shopping destination in the region. Andrew Mitchell MP said, “The biggest barrier to development and investment in our town centre is the economic crisis, which was brought about by Labour’s mismanagement of the national finances. “Now that the Labour government has gone we can start to address the crisis in our national finances. Having consulted widely in conjunction with the Sutton Coldfield Civic Society, to whom I pay a special tribute, we now have the permissive town centre development framework which will ensure that any new investment compliments our plans for the town. “Our Councillors in Sutton Coldfield have long had this as a top priority but inevitably development is unlikely to be rapid.”
