Sutton’s MP took a trip out of his constituency to nearby Water Orton to visit a Scrap Yard owned and run by three generations of the same Sutton Coldfield family. Beaver Metals is a family run business specialising in scrap metal trading. Andrew Mitchell was shown around the site, which holds an impressive array of scrap ranging from washing machine parts to old Daily Mail printers to whole aeroplanes. During his tour Mr Mitchell met with staff who demonstrated the scrap sorting process. He tried his hand at the ‘panning’ process that takes place on site to separate usable from unusable scrap. Following his visit Mr Mitchell said “This is an excellent example of a thriving family business and it is a pleasure to see so many generations from Sutton working to build such a successful business”.
