Sutton Coldfield branch of Diabetes UK held their annual Walk in the Park on Saturday 18th June 2011. The adverse weather forecast did not deter over 70+ people turning up to take part in the Walk, to raise monies for research into Diabetes. Everyone enjoyed the day enormously in spite of getting rather wet at times. Andrew Mitchell MP kindly agreed to attend and officially start off the walk, he also drew the winning raffle tickets as pictured above. We eagerly await further monies raised by our intrepid walkers. Andrew Mitchell MP said: “Sutton’s Diabetes Walk in the Park is a great way to raise awareness for the charity as well as encourage people to dig deep for a good cause. Congratulations to our local branch of Diabetes UK who organised the walk in Sutton’s beautiful New Hall Valley Country Park. It is a very appropriate way to fundraise for the charity given the benefits of exercise in preventing the onset of diabetes.”
